Unemployed persons are person aged from 15 to 65, without a job, but fully or partly capable to work, available for employment, who are active job seekers and meet the requirements stipulated in the Act on Employment Mediation and Unemployment Rights and were entered into the Croatian Employment Services Register at the end of the reporting month.

Unemployed Persons, by Age

If regarded by age structure of the unemployed, in June 2009 there were:

9,328 persons (or 3.8 per cent) in the group of 15 to 19 years of age,
30,522 persons (or 12.3 per cent) in the 20-24 age group,
31,395 persons (or 12.7 per cent) in the 25-29 age group,
26,281 persons (or 10.6 per cent) in the 30-34 age group,
24,277 persons (or 9.8 per cent) in the 35-39 age group,
25,441 persons (or 10.3 per cent) in the 40-44 age group,
26,986 persons (or 10.9 per cent) in the 45-49 age group and
72,917 persons (or 29.5 per cent) in the 50+ age group.
