Working age population comprises all persons aged 15 and over.

Persons in employment are those who did, during the reference week, any work for payment in cashor kind. Therefore, the Survey covers all persons who worked in the reference week, no matter what their formal status or means of payment was. In this way, a retired person, a student or a housewife can also be classified as employed.

Persons in employment are also those who were temporarily not working but had a job with the same employer to return to after the reason for absence no longer holds.

Unemployed persons are those who meet the following criteria:

a) in a reference period did no work for payment in cash or kind,

b) were actively seeking employment four weeks prior to the Survey, and

c) were available to start working within the next two weeks.

Those who had no employment and had already found a job to start later are also included.

Currently active population or the labour force is both persons in employment and unemployed persons classified by economic activity in the reference week.

Inactive persons are those under the age of 15 as well as those of working age who are classified neither as persons in employment nor as unemployed persons.
