Efficient labour

According to the Employment of Foreign Nationals Act, a foreigner may be employed in Croatia only if he/she holds a work permit and fulfils the general and special conditions of employment.

• intends and can prove that he/she will engage in specific activities (e.g. foreign investment);

• will perform professional activities as stipulated in the technology transfer contract or the long-term production co-operation contract

In Croatia, there are trade unions who systematically work on improving the quality of job positions, working and living conditions of all people. There is a alliance of autonomous trade unions of Croatia, which is completely independent of employers, government, political parties and religious organisations. That alliance is recognized as a relevant social partner to the state, and therefore participates in decision making of economics and social guidelines of state policy.
